Provide knowledge about DNA, RNA and proteomics sequencing, through bioinformatics tools for graduate students.
To provide bioinformatics concepts and knowledge related to genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics with the help of different programs/software, for graduate students. Bioinformatics is an ally of breeders and geneticists in the quest to understand the structure of genetic material and its expression. RNA-seq is a technique that enables the analysis of gene expression patterns via large-scale RNA sequencing, aiming at understanding the functions of gene products and their relationship with the phenotypes and productive characteristics of animals. Introduction to the course with the theme related to the transcriptome and the difference with genomics and proteomics;
Difference between RTqPCR and RNA-seq techniques;
Introduction to Bioinformatics highlighting the Linux environment and data preparation;
Introduction and practice of quality control;
Practice mapping and counting reads;
Introduction to differential expression and gene ontology.
It aims to provide bioinformatics knowledge related to genomics, transcriptome and proteomics, presenting practices that can contribute to master's and doctoral students, who will later be able to use the results obtained for future research and scientific publications. Introductory theoretical class, in order to familiarize students with the subject addressed in the course and explanation of the differences in technologies applied to the study of genomes, transcriptomes and proteomes.

Demonstrative practical classes including: software installation, nucleic acid sequencing, file formatting, sequencing quality control, genome and transcriptomes assembly, gene expression analysis and gene ontology. The practices will be carried out by the lecturers and performed together with the course participants.
