Curso de criopreservação de plantas - 6ª Edição

About

Cryopreservation of plant tissues is a strategic tool for conserving genetic resources in liquid nitrogen (−196 °C) safely, reducing losses caused by pests, diseases, field failures, and climatic events. It is an advanced strategy that requires the development of specific protocols for each crop; however, once established, it allows the material to be conserved for an indefinite period without the need for frequent subculturing and regeneration.
The course will strengthen practical competencies in explant preparation, the use of cryoprotectants, the application of different cryopreservation techniques (vitrification, encapsulation, and slow freezing), and post-thaw recovery, as well as viability assessment. In addition, fundamental concepts will be presented that will enable the standardization of protocols for different plant species.
