Hello people registered in the VII Mineiro Symposium on Soil Science!

On this platform you will be able to register for the VII SMCS Technical Trips.
It is only allowed to register for one (1) Technical Travel per person, and the chosen option must be selected in the registration method on this page. Each Technical Travel option has 17 spaces.
There is no distinction in the registration fee for Technical Trips for Undergraduates, Post-Graduates or Professionals.
The three options for Technical Trips, as well as their instructors, objectives and registration fee, are described below:

  • [OPTION 1] Geological processes, geology, mineralogy and pedogenesis: Particularities of the Iron Quadrangle - Prof. Edgar Batista de Medeiros Júnior (UFV) - The field experience aims to stimulate the observation of the landscape, in addition to identifying, describing and distinguishing geological and morphoclimatic environments, emphasizing the differences in rocks, soils and relief of the Iron Quadrangle. Registration fee: R$ 80,00

  • [OPTION 2] Acid drainage and recovery techniques for degraded areas: Emphasis on the Iron Quadrangle - Prof. Igor Rodrigues de Assis (UFV) - On this technical trip, participants will have the opportunity to get to know the environmental area 1 affected by the rupture of the Fundão dam, and the main environmental recovery techniques used. Discussions on mining activity in the region, its impacts and the main approaches for the environmental recovery of mined areas will be explored, and basic concepts on acid mine drainage, mitigation processes and revegetation of sulphide substrates will be presented. Registration fee: R$ 60,00

  • [OPTION 3] Buried Paleosols of Zona da Mata (MG): Dating and Implications - Prof. Carlos Ernesto G. R. Schaefer - Buried horizons, rich in Organic Matter, occur on many colluvial slopes in the Zona da Mata, representing extreme climatic events that buried paleoscapes during the Late Quaternary. On the field trip, we will observe a chronological sequence of paleosols, dated through 14C, evaluating the isotopic ratios of C in paleosols from humic horizons buried in the top levels of the South American Surface (between the Planalto de Viçosa and the Serra do Brigadeiro). . The purpose of the excursion is to reveal a chronology of mass movements in the evolution of the regional landscape. Issues such as: i. the buried soils are Paleosols, and record important environmental changes in the Holocene; ii. verify if there is a temporal concentration of erosion events that formed the buried horizons The mass movement events are concentrated after the last glacial maximum (last 11 thousand years), and reveal vegetations and paleoenvironments different from the current ones. Registration fee: R$ 40,00

There will be no offer of the Technical Travel Option that does not reach the minimum of 10 subscribers. Exceptionally in this case, a refund will be provided.
