Welcome to the VII Mineiro Symposium on Soil Science!
The Mineiro Symposium on Soil Science (SMCS), promoted biennially by the Graduate Program in Soils and Plant Nutrition (PPGSNP) of the Department of Soils (DPS) of the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), is a space for analysis and reflection of knowledge, applications and demands of society in the field of Soil Science.
In its seventh edition, the SMCS has the theme “Soil Chemistry and Mineralogy: Bases and applications for production and environmental sustainability”. The event will offer a multidisciplinary approach to Soil Science to a diverse audience, with emphasis on different fronts of mineralogy and soil chemistry studies in an environmental approach that allows understanding and applicability in practical aspects in the use and management of tropical soils. Discussions will be promoted on the potential and applications of studies and current techniques of mineralogy and soil chemistry, as well as the relationship of these studies with other environmental matrices and their contributions to the different systems of sustainable soil use and management.
Lectures will focus on chemistry and mineralogy of tropical soils, analytical techniques of soil chemistry and mineralogy, chemical and mineralogical aspects related to pedogenesis and processes involving potentially toxic elements. In addition, mini-courses will be given on the subject and three technical field trips in the Zona da Mata Mineira and Quadrilátero Ferrífero region.
The event will take place from 18/04/2023 to 22/04/2023.
